Radio One Communications news receives IBA Spectrum Award
Northwest Indiana country station Indiana 105 (WLJE-FM) is being honored with an Indiana Broadcasters Association (IBA) 2005 Spectrum Award for “Outstanding News Operation of the Year” Medium Market.
In a news release announcing all the recipients statewide, judges’ comments said “Laura Waluszko is an impressive anchor. She is an authoritative presenter of news that has local interest and is compelling. NW Indiana is well served by WLJE FM.” Waluszko has been news director/anchor for Indiana 105 parent company, Radio One Communications, since 1996.
The Indiana Broadcasters Association Spectrum Awards were presented Monday, October 24, 2005, in Indianapolis in conjunction with the IBA’s 56th Annual Convention.
Earlier this year, Waluszko received a First Place for Best Radio Newscast, News Departments of Fewer Than Five Full-Time Staff including News Director, from the Indiana Professional Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. That award, based on work done in 2004, was presented in Indianapolis on April 29, 2005.
Radio One Communications operates four stations that serve Northwest Indiana: Indiana 105 (WLJE-FM), X-Rock 103.9 (WXRD-FM), Z-107.1 (WZVN-FM), and AM-1500 (WAKE-AM).
